Jonathan Jones

Sometimes it takes another person being invested in you to kickstart your motivation. That’s what happened with this week’s guest, motivational speaker and author Jonathan Jones. He was working a retail job when his boss came to him one day and told him he needed to re-frame his perspective. It was the boost he needed to go back to basics and figure out what he wanted from life and what he needed to do to get it. Now, years later, he’s using what he learned along the way to help fellow millennials (and people who work with them) gear up for success.

You have to be accountable for your actions and the path you’re walking. It’s important to have skin in the game — to buy into your goals and hopes so you have sticking power even when times get tough. After all, investment is tied to mindset. With a winning mindset, anything is possible.

What You’ll Learn:

  • Create accountability for yourself
  • Buy into your goals to up your investment
  • Understand when you need to slow down
  • Take time to unlearn bad habits and mindsets
  • Create ownership of the process for yourself or others

“I think that we shouldn’t live a life we didn’t choose for ourselves.” -Jonathan Jones

“I would just challenge the listener to start small. Think. Everybody doesn’t have the largest house or the nicest car but you might have a house. You might have a car. Just start from that perspective and grow from there.” -Jonathan Jones

I think sometimes people don’t compete every day because they don’t buy into themselves. They don’t buy into the journey or the process. But when you put some skin in the game, I think that changes the stakes a little bit.” -Jonathan Jones

“We always care more about the things that are a larger investment for us and we do the work.” -Jake Thompson

“When you put things on paper … it creates accountability. When you see this, it triggers that thought process of where you were when you initially started.” -Jonathan Jones
